This is the  “THE TINCTORIUM Mandala”, which will be – in the layout- a sibling to POMARIUM and HERBULARIUS.

It depicts a garden for dyeing plants. Medieval ages made most of any plants and herbs in various ways. Of course for meals and healing purposes, but as well herbs, plant parts and fruit were used to dye spun threads and  woven fabrics to beautiful colors.

I have designed this piece with a color “circle” in mind – from yellows over oranges to red, to purple, to blues and greens. If you ever dyed your threads yourself with any plant matter, you will know that the colors are mostly soft, natural and just beautiful – nothing flashy in natural dyes…

Mainly cross stitch, this design features as well Special Stitches, beads, crystals and many diverse kinds of threads and braids for an entertaining stitching .

The design will be published in 4 parts.

The first part came out Dec 2014 ,next in March, June and August 2015

The size will be approx. 310 x 310 stitches.
